Juli 2023 – Henrik received a CrystEngComm Poster Prize at the 23rd International Symposium on Fluorine Chemistry (July 23-28, 2023, Québec City) for his poster entitled “With Fluorine to Methanol Catalysts for Sustainable CO2-Hydrogenation”! Congratulations Henrik!

April 2023 – Lukas received a poster price at the Syngas Convention 4 in Cape Town for presenting his work on the fluorination of methanol catalysts. Very exciting and new in-situ pXRD results obtained in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Nico Fischer at the University of Cape Town! Congratulations Lukas!

December 2022 – Marriage among main group classics: See how Schnöckel’s AlCp*-tetramer and Jutzi’s SiCp*-cation unite two give unique clusters. Angewandte even upgraded the communication to a research paper… See our News Entry.

September 2022 – Believe it or not, there may be too much fluorine within a WCA. We show that the perfluorinated alkoxyaluminate accepts an electron upon Mg-deposition, forms MgF₂ and inhibits further Mg-deposition effectively. See why: Link. See our News Entry.

September 2022 - Finally. Together with Jan Weigand we published access to the elusive P-cations including the first single crystal X-ray structure determination. Link. See our News Entry.

Early September 2022 - On the 44th International Conference on Coordination Chemistry – ICCC2022 in Rimini, Italy, 28 Aug – 2 Sep 2022 – Philipp Dabringhaus won with his poster "From an Al₄-Cluster to Al⁺ Complexes: Lessons on Metalloid Clustering" a poster prize in the section "T2: Coordination Chemistry of s-, p- and f-block Elements: Synthesis, Characterization, Reactivity and Theoretical Studies". 10.08.2022 – Malte got his trimetallic Ru and Os cation [M₃(CO)₁₄]²⁺ paper in Chemical Science published. Due to the excellent review reports, this work was selected as basis for the Front Cover of the Journal and the “Pick off the Week” by the Chem. Sci. Editors. Link. See our News Entry.

28.06.2022 - Our group is now member of the "Red Lions Club" for having presented more than ten contributions on the Weimar Catalysis meeting.

02.06.2022 - Dustin Kubas from our catalysis lab went online with a videopodcast produced by our university. Topic is dependence from Russian gas and sustainable ways around.

22.11.2021 - Antoine got his paper on “Ga⁺-Catalyzed Hydrosilylation? About the Surprising System Ga⁺/ HSiR₃/ Olefin, Proof of Oxidation with Subvalent Ga⁺ and Silylium Catalysis with the Perfluoroalkoxyaluminate Anion.” in Chem. Sci. 2021 accepted. Link: https://doi.org/10.1039/D1SC05331K

Ga⁺ initiates the hydro-silylation of olefinic double bonds with HSiR₃. Surprising-ly, subvalent Ga⁺ oxidizes silanes to silylium ions, the true catalysts of this reaction.

Oxidative fluorination of a Cu/ZnO catalyst system increased the defect/copper ratio on the surface of the resulting Cu/ZnO/ZnF₂ system.
