News

December 2022 – Marriage among main group classics: See how Schnöckel’s AlCp*-tetramer and Jutzi’s SiCp*-cation unite two give unique clusters. Angewandte even upgraded the communication to a research paper… See our News Entry.

November 2022 – Cationic dialanes. Cp-ligands enable strange fluxional bonding situation. Philipps paper in Chem. Comm. tells you why… See our News Entry.

October 2022 – Simplicity first. Now also Ni(I)-benzene cations were made accessible by Manuel. They show an unexpected η3-,η6-coordination. This also explains the gas phase experiments by T. Lau… Link. See our News Entry.

September 2022 – Philipp’s stunning mixed low-valent group 13 cations got accepted with Chem. Sci. Check it out…! See our News Entry.

September 2022 – Believe it or not, there may be too much fluorine within a WCA. We show that the perfluorinated alkoxyaluminate accepts an electron upon Mg-deposition, forms MgF2 and inhibits further Mg-deposition effectively. See why: Link. See our News Entry.

September 2022 - Finally. Together with Jan Weigand we published access to the elusive P-cations including the first single crystal X-ray structure determination. Link. See our News Entry.

August 2022 – We are now on Twitter. Checkout @KrossingGroup to keep updated. The account is administrated by group members.

Early September 2022 - On the 44th International Conference on Coordination Chemistry – ICCC2022  in Rimini, Italy, 28 Aug – 2 Sep 2022 – Philipp Dabringhaus won with his poster "From an Al4-Cluster to Al+ Complexes: Lessons on Metalloid Clustering" a poster prize  in the section "T2: Coordination Chemistry of s-, p- and f-block Elements: Synthesis, Characterization, Reactivity and Theoretical Studies". Congratulations...!

10.08.2022 – Malte got his trimetallic Ru and Os cation [M3(CO)14]2+ paper in Chemical Science published. Due to the excellent review reports, this work was selected as basis for the Front Cover of the Journal and the “Pick off the Week” by the Chem. Sci. Editors. Link. See our News Entry.

04.08.2022 - Philipp got his subvalent aluminum cluster cation [Al(AlCp*)3]+ paper in Nature Chemistry published. Congrats. See here for the paper and here for the blog.

See our News Entry.

28.06.2022 - Our group is now member of the "Red Lions Club"  for having presented more than ten contributions on the Weimar Catalysis meeting.

02.06.2022 - Dustin Kubas from our catalysis lab went online with a videopodcast produced by our university. Topic is dependence from Russian gas and sustainable ways around.

Great stuff, have a look: Link.

25.05.2022 - Jan got his open-shell iron pentacarbonyl cation [Fe(CO)5]•+ paper in Angewandte Chemie published. Congrats and thanks to Sabine and Karsten for help with EPR and Mössbauer. Link See our News Entry.

26.04.2022 - Prof. Ingo Krossing receives ERC Advanced Grant for the construction of a universally applicable redox scale. https://kommunikation.uni-freiburg.de/pm/personalia/chemiker-ingo-krossing-erhaelt-erc-advanced-grant-fuer-den-aufbau-einer-allgemeingueltigen-redox-skala

11.04.2022

Fritz received the FMF challenge cup for the best abstract.

Congratulations Fritz!

22.11.2021 - Antoine got his paper on “Ga+-Catalyzed Hydrosilylation? About the Surprising System Ga+/ HSiR3/ Olefin, Proof of Oxidation with Subvalent Ga+ and Silylium Catalysis with the Perfluoroalkoxyaluminate Anion.” in Chem. Sci. 2021 accepted. Link: https://doi.org/10.1039/D1SC05331K

Ga+ initiates the hydro-silylation of olefinic double bonds with HSiR3. Surprising-ly, subvalent Ga+ oxidizes silanes to silylium ions, the true catalysts of this reaction.

15.10.2021 - Samuel got his paper on "Oxidative Fluorination on Cu/ZnO Catalysts for Methanol Synthesis" in ACS Catalysis accepted!

Congrats. Link:  https://doi.org/10.1021/acscatal.1c03735

Oxidative fluorination of a Cu/ZnO catalyst system increased the defect/copper ratio on the surface of the resulting Cu/ZnO/ZnF2 system.

11.10.2021 - Antoine Barthelemy got the Kekulé-stipend from the FCI. Congratulations to him for a prestigious feather at his hat...!

04.08.2021 - Andreas Peter and Maximilian  Schmucker defended their PhD Theses with great success. Congratulations to both of them...!

01.07.2021 - Samuel Fehr defended his PhD Thesis with great success. Congratulations to Samuel...!
